JEWELRY CARE
At Jada Gems, we're all about using top-notch materials like 14k gold-filled, sterling silver, & stainless steel to ensure your new jewelry won't tarnish or turn colors.Â
Now, to keep your pieces sparkling like new, here are some handy tips:
Beaded Bracelets: They're crafted with double stretch string, so be gentle when taking them off. Rolling them off instead of tugging will prevent stretching. Try to minimize taking them on and off frequently to maintain their size and shape.
14k gold-filled: Exposure to the salt from sweat can cause your pieces to become dull. Be mindful that perfume, hairspray and hand lotions may tarnish your gold filled jewelry due to the harsh chemicals they contain. Gently wipe your gold filled piece with a jewelry polishing, non-scratch cloth every now and again to promote shine.
Gold filled is an alloy, so are sterling silver and 9k, 14k, 18k solid gold. As such it can tarnish only when the combination of the above factors are present. However, compared to lower quality alloys, these fine materials (gold filled, solid gold) can resist tarnish at a higher rate. Given more care, it will also last for a much longer time, compared to lower quality alloys such as gold plated.
Sterling silver jewelry: To prevent oxidation, remove your silver pieces before activities that expose them to the elements. Give them a polish with a silver cloth when needed and store them in a safe, dry place when not in use.
Chains: All of our chains are 18k gold plated stainless steel, waterproof, and tarnish resistant. The care coated with PVD, which stands for Physical Vapor Deposition, which is a process that coats jewelry with a thin layer of metal to change its color and make it more durable. PVD-coated jewelry is hypoallergenic, scratch-resistant, and can last for many years
Charms: Most of our charms are 18k gold plated stainless steel base which are waterproof, tarnish resistant, coated in PVD.Â
Charms brass base: Some of our charms are 18k gold plated brass that are also water resistant, BUT over time they May lose their shine and tarnish if exposed to too much water, perfumes, and sweat. It’s best to remove your jewelry prior to taking a shower.Â
Please read the description, it will indicate whether it’s 18k stainless steel (PVD), or 18k brass base.Â
Hope these tips help you keep your Jada Gems bracelets shining bright! 💚
